The Journey
Finnish Lapland sits almost entirely above the Arctic Circle. In deep winter, the sun barely clears the horizon, sometimes not at all. What replaces daylight is the Aurora Borealis, visible on clear nights as green and sometimes violet light rippling across the sky. This itinerary spends two nights in Saariselka, one of Finland's most northerly resort villages and among the best Aurora-viewing locations in the country, before moving south to Rovaniemi, officially the capital of Lapland and, by tradition, Santa Claus's official hometown.

Is the Northern Lights sighting guaranteed?+
No tour operator can guarantee a sighting; it depends on solar activity, cloud cover, and clear dark skies. We guarantee positioning in one of the best viewing regions, expert guides, and a worthwhile evening regardless of outcome.
Is this trip suitable for children?+
Very much so, Santa Claus Village is built for exactly this. Husky and reindeer sleigh rides work well for most ages; the overnight Aurora hunt (starting 8pm) may run late for very young children.
How cold does it actually get?+
February temperatures typically range -10C to -25C, occasionally colder during clear, calm conditions (also the best conditions for Aurora viewing). Proper layering makes this manageable.
Should we add the Icebreaker Cruise?+
If the itinerary allows the extra day and budget, we recommend it without reservation; guests who add it consistently describe it as a trip highlight.
